Pat and Michael Reese were married for 56 years. Michael was a local businessman, beginning his career at Standard Oil, and also a licensed pilot. After Michael passed away, Pat and her family chose to honor his legacy by creating opportunities for students who shared his passion for aviation. Pat and her children struggled finding the right educational institution for this gift. However, when they sat down with the PCC Foundation, Pat and her family felt a strong connection and gifted a generous $380,000 donation, creating an endowment to fund two full-ride scholarships each year in perpetuity for aviation maintenance students. The aviation hangar on the PCC Rock Creek Campus has also been named in Michael Reese’s honor. It was the first philanthropic naming of a building in the history of Portland Community College.
